Module Summary

1. OVERVIEW

This program aims to support teachers in the early education setting adopt the concepts and principles of the Special Olympics Unified Champion School program for their young students.

The first step in the UCS journey is to adopt inclusive sports activities and gain Unified School status. Early Education teachers can join SOUAE and The Daily Mile to get started and get Unified!

Teachers will be walked through the basics of creating inclusion within their schools through participation in an inclusive edition of The Daily Mile. Teachers will learn how to implement the program in their schools. Additionally, they will gain familiarity with the unified model and how to create unified and inclusive experiences for their students.

2. OBJECTIVES

TANGIBLE GOAL #1

Familiarize early education students with the Unified Champion School program.

TANGIBLE GOAL #2

Prepare teachers to implement The Daily Mile as an inclusive fitness activity.

TANGIBLE GOAL #3

Ensure teachers are confident in the reporting procedures of the UCS early education pilot.
