Module Summary
The last step to fulfill the criteria of Unified Champion Schools program is by applying the last pillar; Whole School Engagement, which are activities that positively impact school climate by including all students, teachers, staff and administrators. This welcoming community cultivates a positive school climate and enhances other school-wide efforts.
School-wide opportunities focused on social inclusion raise awareness and create an educational environment where respect and acceptance are the norms and all students feel included and engaged, this is aimed to reach most of the school population.
Examples include such things as Spread the Word Campaign, Pep Rallies or “Fans in the Stands” for Unified Sports teams, or Respect Campaigns.
The last pillar indicates that a school should organize at least two whole-school activities per year organized and led by students with and without intellectual disabilities.
